Does your organization offer a complimentary meal to volunteers?  If so, how is it administered?  One meal/per shift or a dollar amount?  How is it monitored?

Our volunteers get a free meal per shift. They have $8 credit, not applicable to prepackaged items (bottled drinks, bagged chips, etc.). If they spend more than $8 they pay the difference. They just have to be wearing their badge when they go through the cashier line, and they have the volunteer sign the receipt.

Yes, our organization provides a complimentary meal to volunteers. Each volunteer is eligible to receive one free meal per day during their shift.

Due to recent increases in food costs, we have transitioned from offering a set meal to providing a $10 meal allowance per day.

This benefit is monitored and administered on a daily basis to ensure that each volunteer receives only one complimentary meal per shift. On our end, we track this by entering the amount weekly in Volgistics under each volunteer’s name.

The Dietary Department prints the meal receipt, which the volunteer signs at the time of service. All receipts are then submitted to the Dietary Manager, who charges the total to my cost center on a monthly basis.

We offer a meal allowance of $15 per shift for our volunteers. This covers the rising cost of meals in our hospital. We have increased this over the years to ensure volunteers can actually purchase a full meal with their budgeted amount. We work with our Food and Nutrition Services and volunteer badges are used to swipe for meals just like employee payroll deduction. We receive a monthly report showing who purchased on what day and what amount to monitor to make sure no one is abusing the benefit.

We offer a $10 credit towards a meal and the employee 20% discount to volunteers that provide three hours or more on a shift. This would only be on the day of their shift and wearing their name badge.

We offer the equivalent of one meal per four-hour shift. We no longer have a set dollar amount. We wanted to avoid "nickel and diming" our volunteers if they went over a set amount. They sign the receipt when they check out. Dietary lets me know if anyone charges an exorbitant amount.

We give our volunteers a voucher worth $7 that they can use to purchase whatever they'd like in our cafeteria. If they go over, they pay the difference. Our cost center is only charged for the actual amount that they spend. They get a voucher for every shift they volunteer.
