Yes, we have a care-a-van 'hands-free' cell phone the drivers use. Emergency numbers, along with other dept. numbers are programmed in. When someone needs a pick-up, they call the care-a-van number which is posted on the light poles in the parking lot. We also have business cards in all of our service areas and entrances for individuals to pick up. Drivers are covered under the hospital liability plan as long as they are driving on 'hospital campus' and/or approved routes.
We have trainings every 6 months, including Columbia Fire Dept. that trains them on the fire extinguishers that are placed in each van. In fact, our drivers have more training than some of our other departments that drive hospital owned vehicles!
