I'd love any feedback you have on what system/company you use for your criminal background checks, and pros and cons of them.
    Thanks,

    Sterling Volunteers

Pros - very fast; nationwide search (important for us because we have a lot of people relocating from other states); they perform a complete criminal locator search with OIG/GSA, which our general counsel required (I had to match the checks our HR department was performing)

Cons - I have a base price, which is kind of expensive in my opinion, but still less than what it costs our HR department thru the company they use. Some states charge an extra fee for aliases, so that increases my cost.

We also use Sterling and Jan summarized it well.  We have used them for a number of years.

We use the MS State Department of Health for ours. They run a nation wide search on applicants.

It costs us $50. for each one. We usually get it back within 24-36 hours.

A couple of years ago I had a friend of my mother that applied. They found a DUI on him from 1971 in Florida! He was so embarrassed.
